Jeff and I will celebrate ten years of marriage in March! Wow ten years....... Has he really known me since i was 24?
I have been with him for over a decade. Time has gone by so fast.. 10 years of marriage 6 different resisdences, 7 cars, 5 jobs for me 3 for Jeff, two children, 5 pets none still with us, oops!, and YEAH only 1 church... www.christcommunitychurch.org
All that to be said I finally cleaned out our files today, yes 10+ years of files, some came into the relationship with us. Oh my goodness there was soo much junk! No need to keep the junk! But it felt good to shred and toss it all!
In the process I decided to make a actual file, (vs the stack of papers in my drawer) for the girls fun memories or cute things they make that they might want to see someday and then toss for themselves of course!
It was a productive day in that I have been avoiding the filing cabinet like the plague and now I don't have to anymore!!
Here is an example of a typical conversation between Jeff & I about the files:
Jeff: "Hey Cath, can you get me the taxes file for 200_?"
Cathi: Uhh yeah do you know where that is, isnt that still at your office?"
Jeff: I can't find the file but what is the mortgage doing in the insurance file?
Cathi: "hmmm dont know maybe the kids did that.."
I am totally laughing out loud typing this because it is so us!
Another great example of the craziness of the file cabinet:
We went to mexico in april so i had to go get my passport, so after weeks of putting it off until the last minute, in March I finally went into the dreaded cabinet and could not find my birth certificate at all. I searched everywhere and I only had 4 weeks to get a new one!
So I went down the the laguna hills civic center and got a new birth certifcate in 10 minutes, it was amazing! Then off to the post office and paid the extra money to get the passport on time but still no guarantee... well I got it so I was able to go.. OK now, fast forward to today.. and guess what I found stuffed in the blue cross file???
YEP my original birth certificate! oops oh my gosh! Well that shouldn't happen again. Plus now I have two!
I used to be so organized, before kids and life really got busy, now I organize in increments of time in between demands of my children!!!!
Cheers to a newly organized file cabinet that hopefully will never be as it was before!

yay for getting organized. I can't believe you did it all in one day. I'm still working on ours.
Yay also for 10 years of marriage. Love the conversation about the tax documents. We have the exact same conversations!
Great - now you can come help me organize mine before Jeff starts asking where my stuff is - haha. Love both of you :}
